Jamie Krauth - Ambassador Spotlight
Tell us about yourself!
Hey! My name is Jamie Krauth and I’m a freshman from Cumming, Georgia! I’ve wanted to go to Auburn ever since I first toured it about two years ago, and I’m so happy to be studying apparel merchandising here. I’m so excited that I’m a SWATCH ambassador and have been having so much fun already this semester. Some of my hobbies include thrifting, shopping, sewing, photography and video editing. Also, I love coffee, hanging out in coffee shops, my dogs, family, and traveling.
What does your dream job in fashion look like?
For so long I’ve always wanted to be a fashion buyer. I love the idea of being able to attend the marts and be able to make decisions on what should be sold in the store I would work for. I was able to attend the Atlanta Apparel Mart this past Summer and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. In addition, I’ve always loved writing and journalism. I would be open to the idea of working for a fashion magazine or in the realm of fashion journalism. However, there are so many opportunities presented in apparel merchandising and I can’t wait to learn more about what those are.
What inspired you to study fashion in college & why?
I’ve always known that I’ve wanted a career in fashion. Growing up my dream was to be a fashion designer. I had a small notebook I would take with me everywhere that I would use to draw designs. However, I’m not the most creative when it comes to drawing and quickly realized that the merchandising side was more for me, when I took a fashion marketing class in high school. After this, I decided to work at a local boutique for about two years. This job also opened my eyes to this side of the apparel industry, and I knew studying apparel merchandising was for me.
What inspired you to get involved with SWATCH?
When I first toured Auburn, I was told about the fashion club on campus and knew I wanted to join it when I started! From joining AMDA I heard about SWATCH and the ambassador program and was really eager to get even more involved with my major. SWATCH seemed like the perfect mix of everything I love about fashion, and I am so happy I got involved this year!
