All About Denim

All About Denim

A key principle in fashion is that anything goes with denim. From retro styles to modern flair, denim is a staple, and three styles in particular are making a comeback: bell bottoms in modern prints, dressy high-waist jeans that are figure-flattering, and the classic denim jacket.

First and foremost, bell bottoms are back. Many brands are currently partaking in the revitalization of the 70’s throwback. Wrangler jeans, for example, partnered with Lainey Wilson to offer a printed denim bell bottom line at around $100. These styles are young, fun, and a 1970s dream. Denim isn't just a country lifestyle staple. Stella McCartney showcased the bells with accordion pleats as well as regular bells in a variety of colors and washes. Versace offers a dark bell coming in at $721, Alexander McQueen carries a skinny leg bell at $1090, and  Balenciaga has a light stonewash for $1,350.. No matter what the price point, shopping Wrangler or luxury, bell bottoms are back in a big way. Get the look that best fits your body and your wallet!

High-waisted denim jeans are another big trendy item at the moment. The cut of high-waisted jeans flatters a wide range of body types and offers a slimming silhouette. The cut often makes the legs appear longer, with a cinched waist. Unlike low-rise jeans, the high-waisted jean offers more comfort and coverage when sitting and bending. We see many designers pairing the two trends of high-waisted with bell-bottoms. Alice + Olivia Women's High-Rise Flare Bell Bottoms at Nordstrom run for $350, with a cut and fit that flatters all body types. The dark denim offers a slimming effect with stylish bells.

Lastly is the denim jacket. The versatility of the denim jacket allows it to be dressed up or down, and the comfort and timeless aesthetic have made denim jackets staples in our wardrobes. Denim jackets are worn by cowboys, hippies, rock stars, rappers, and everyone in between. From Levi's to Kate Spade, the denim jacket is timeless. We find denim jackets in a traditional look from Levis with a straight cut and standard denim buttons for $120. Change the cut to a fitted silhouette and add a peplum, and Bergdorf Goodman's peplum denim jacket with gold buttons goes for $2,490. A great denim jacket can be paired with anything from jeans, dress pants, or a cute dress.

Styles always come back around, and nothing is better than a pair of vintage denim pants or a great denim jacket. Get your denim in the updated retro styles!
