Quarantine Bucket List: Better Skin!

Over quarantine, one goal I have had for myself was to try out some new skincare— I really wanted to nail down a routine that works for my skin-type. Besides that, receiving a few packages filled with new skincare in the mail is something fun to look forward to when you’re stuck at home! Here are the items that I absolutely love. Some I have used for years, and others are new additions within recent months. I will go in depth with a review of each item below!

Face Wash: CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

Vitamin C Serum: Tarte Youth or Dare

Under Eye Cream: Ole Henricksen Banana Bright

Moisturizer: Trader Joe’s Enrich Moisturizing Face Lotion

Lips: LANEIGE Lip Mask (Berry)

Makeup Primer: Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser: Luckily, I became a religious face washer at a very young age. I was always the friend who provided the makeup wipes at sleepovers and told my friends they will thank themselves in the morning if they go ahead and wash it all off. I have used this CeraVe cleanser since high school and don’t anticipate ever switching it out. It is for normal or oily skin, and it helps control oil without drying my skin out. My face always feels so refreshed after using this.

Tarte Youth or Dare Vitamin C Serum: Vitamin C serums are all the rage, but unfortunately, they can get very pricey very fast! After researching and reading LOTS of reviews, I decided to try one out by Tarte. After using this for about 2 weeks, I could see a difference in my skin, as it definitely started to look brighter and healthier. The bottle is also super fun and bright; I love how it looks on my bathroom counter!

Ole Henriksen Banana Bright: This one of my new favorite products! I bought this during the big Sephora sale because I had heard so many good things about it— now I can’t imagine my life without it. I can honestly tell such a positive difference when using this product. It immediately brightens up the under-eye area and feels so refreshing on the skin. Another plus is that it is “Clean at Sephora", meaning it’s formulated without harmful ingredients!

Enrich Moisturizing Face Lotion: This is a product I did not expect to like. I got it in my stocking for Christmas, and it took me running out of my previous moisturizer to try it. First of all, the price is amazing! It is only $5 for a 4fl oz. bottle. It also contains SPF 15, which is a great way to add some sun protection to your face! My face tends to get oily from certain moisturizers, especially when there is sunscreen in it. However, this product keeps my face feeling hydrated throughout the day and never greasy. Also, did I mention it’s only $5?

LANEIGE Lip Mask: My skincare isn’t over until my lips have something on them! I have been using this product multiple times a day since it arrived in the mail a few months ago. It is called a “Lip Sleeping Mask”, but can definitely be used just like a regular lip product. It has a very light pink tint and is extremely hydrating. I love it so much that I bought the mint flavor as well!

Hangover Replenishing Face Primer: After I moisturize, I always apply a primer before my foundation. I consider this a part of my skincare routine because it adds extra moisture, and I still use it on makeup-free days. I have been obsessed with this product by Too Faced for about a year now. Not only does it smell like coconuts, but it is so light and is the perfect base for a dewy and fresh look.

Skincare is so important, and it is great to start a good routine during this recent down time! Taking care of your skin is not about purchasing the most expensive or popular product, but about what works best for your skin type. I have tried so many products because of “hype”, but ended up not loving them for my own skin. A great resource is Sephora’s website, which organizes its reviews by people with similar skin types. Using that has helped me find a few great products, and it is especially a helpful tool now that we can’t go in stores and use testers like we used to. Thank you for reading, and I hope I have inspired you to try out some new products!
