Mixing Metals: Styling the Gold Necklace He Bought You Even Though You Wear Silver

Mixing Metals: Styling the Gold Necklace He Bought You Even Though You Wear Silver

He did it. He proved he did not know you as well as you thought he did; it is staring you in the face as we speak. It’s okay girl, put it on. Mixing metals is in this 2024 season, and what you thought to be a disaster is a blessing, so open your mind. It is a newfound freedom for your own personal style. We saw the simple gold or silver dainty jewelry in 2023 with our clean girl looks. You rocked it. We are letting our hair down this year and getting out the glitter for a little fun. Even Vogue said so!

Take a breath; we aren’t retiring any of your favorite pieces. We are shopping. This year, we aren’t taking anything away; we are putting on as much as we can afford. Chunky, more industrial pieces will be your new best friend, many of which start the hard work for you by incorporating silver and gold, making this scary transition a little less daunting. Charm bracelets and necklaces incorporating many textures and tones have flooded 2024 jewelry lines, featured in almost every recent line. These include Dior, Jenny Bird, Guess, Kendra Scott, Enewton, and David Yurman. It is even coming up in our engagement styles this year. Lines, including Grown Brilliance, Brilliant Earth, Jean Dousset, and Van Cleef & Arpels, are also dipping their toes in this pool of opportunity. This trend is super easy to accommodate with the pairing trends seen in simple, short nails this year. This allows your rings to do all the sparkling. This year, put your nail money into consciously styling the necklace he keeps asking why you aren’t wearing.

Go ahead and dig through your childhood jewelry box. Spice up your metals by adding colors, beads, charms, or fun shapes. There are no rules or wrong ways to interpret your jewelry; you buy it right by simply owning it. Recycle your old looks and say hello to your younger self. Gosh, we have missed her! Plus, I am sure Mom would love to see these old pieces have some new life. It goes if you decide it goes; you unleash this freedom when you play by your own rules.

We have the clunky Ugg, the puffy vest, we see the muted makeup, and your comfy athletic basics, and we love it. It is time to add some heft and shine to the most important part, you! Instead of writing off the gold necklace he should’ve known better than to buy, throw on a pair of gold hoops and some two-toned bracelets. It is a new year and a good time to start playing in moms’ makeup again. You might find something you’d missed in the past. The transition from winter to warmer months is the perfect time to introduce these colors to your wardrobe and play with shapes. No one really knows how to dress in Auburn anyways, cold in the morning, hot at noon, freezing in the shade. The only thing you can really rely on is your jewelry as you peel back your layers. Utilize it!
