Is High-End Makeup Worth It?

Is High-End Makeup Worth It?

You hear the word ‘dupe’ being thrown around a lot in today's market, which makes you wonder: Is drug store makeup good enough, or is high-end makeup worth the raised prices? By no means do I consider myself a makeup connoisseur (I can still barley put on eyeliner), but I have been wearing it for a number of years now and have bought and tried many different products. Sometimes I feel as though I have sampled everything under the sun.

When I was younger I wore solely drugstore make up, with most of it coming from the local Walmart. The first foundation I ever bought was good old Neutrogena, alongside some “Maybe it’s Maybelline” mascara. Both are staple brands that have been around forever. So why purchase higher-end make up if the classics seems to be working just fine? As I got older, I started to venture in to Ulta and Sephora. Partially purchasing products for the cool aesthetic and and partially because it seemed to be the norm. Although, as I started to use more luxury makeup, I noticed a big difference in my skin.

As someone that has struggled with acne for most of my adolescence I found this to be a huge relief. I feel like I am always working on my skin and trying to do what is best for it. Following a diligent skincare and wash routine as suggested by the dermatologist has played a big role of course, but doing what is best for the skin is more than that. As I have gotten older, I have realized that high-end make up plays a pretty big part in the .

A couple years ago I bit the bullet and switched over to all high-end makeup. It was a complete transformation from foundation to mascara. I have noticed a huge difference in how my skin looks. My make-up no longer breaks me out, even after long days of wearing it. Luxury make-up also seems more potent. A little goes a long way with it and I find myself using less and having the product for longer.

Although it is subjective, I believe that high-end make up is worth it. Sometimes I do wish, for my bank accounts sake, that drugstore make up works as well as the luxury brands, however, high-end make up has been the best option for me. Not only improving my skin and appearance, but my love for wearing make-up. For me, make-up is no longer tied with bad results. I find joy in putting it on and experimenting with different high-end products.
