Traveling Abroad Tips: Packing Edition

Traveling Abroad Tips: Packing Edition

I have never been to Europe before, so when I found out I was able to go to Greece this summer I was beyond excited. Not only am I looking forward to the beautiful beaches and architecture, but also the fashions and putting together outfits to wear on the trip. However, it’s important to pack items that will not only suit your styling needs, but also ones that can be worn with different pieces and in different ways to maximize space in your suitcase. After doing some research and scrounging through my own closet, I’ve put together a list of some Items I think are worth packing. Hopefully, you can find some inspiration for your next trip to end off summer.

White Button Up

Not only is a white button up a classic garment, but it is very versatile when going on vacation. You can pair it with almost any shorts by buttoning it up or wearing it open over a tank top for some extra warmth. I have also used it as a cover up for my swimsuits and is mainly what I will be using it for on this trip. I would recommend one with a softer fabric such as cotton. A dressier button up with a stiffer fabric may not be as comfortable.

Matching Sets

I have found that I have recently developed an obsession for matching sets. They make styling an outfit effortlessly easy especially when you have to think about putting together travel outfits. In addition, you always look put together wearing a matching set whether it is a lounge set or a dressier one. The sets I’ve packed include one short and tank top lounge set as well as a skirt set. I have found that Princess Polly and other online boutiques carry a large selection of different sets.

Athleisure Skirts

I think athleisure skirts are a perfect addition to your travel wardrobe because you can dress them up and still stay comfortable. I think an outfit paired with this skirt is perfect for a day of walking and sightseeing. I plan to wear mine with a cropped tank, a few accessories, and stylish sneakers. I have found my favorite athleisure skirts at Aerie, specifically the style with the cross-over waistband.

 Dresses

This may be a little obvious, but I found myself packing a decent number of dresses in my suitcase for this trip. This is because, like matching sets, it is an easy outfit that you don’t have to think much about when it comes to packing. Plus, dresses can be super comfortable if you are wearing a more casual one out and about. Of course, I had to pack a few dressier ones for going out to dinner or taking pictures, but I was happy to find I had dresses that I could dress down. For example, I packed a very comfy ribbed black midi dress that I could pair with some necklaces and sneakers.

Crossbody Bag/Fanny pack

I used to think that fanny packs were not the cutest until the trend of wearing them as a sort of cross body bag. I realized that it would work great to carry my passport and any extra cash around with me as it would always be strapped right to my chest. Not only will I use it in the airport, but also for sightseeing and venturing around the country. I was able to find a white crossbody pouch on amazon and it works great, so I definitely recommend.
