Fall Favorites
Now that the Starbucks 2024 fall menu has been released, the season is officially here. Fall is a favorite season for a large majority of people, and I can understand why. The weather is the perfect temperature; it has cooled down from summer and it is enjoyable to be outside. Fall activities, foods, scents, and movies bring about a cozy and comforting feeling, so with fall being such a beloved time of year, I wanted to share my personal fall favorites.
Growing up in Connecticut, it was a yearly tradition to spend a day at our local apple orchard, Averill Farms. After a day of wandering around the orchard looking for the best apples to pick, we would partake in the farm's homemade treats. Within my family, the apple cider donuts were by far a favorite. They would always be served warm and accompanied by fresh apple cider. Not only are apple cider donuts delicious, but they have also become an extremely nostalgic food for me, which is why they have landed on the list of my fall favorites!
When I think of fall movies, my mind immediately jumps to scary movies and Halloween stories. The 1998 film, Halloweentown, will forever be my favorite fall movie. This movie takes you on a story of siblings who leave the regular human world and are transported into Halloweentown, a magical world filled with monsters and mythical creatures. As a kid, the storyline and monsters were realistic and scary, but as I’ve gotten older the movie has become goofy and ironic. This is a must-watch movie every year!
Fall is by far the season with the most distinctive scents. When I think of fall scents my thoughts immediately go to pumpkin spice, apple crisp, cranberry, chai tea, and cinnamon. To pick a favorite, I think that any pumpkin scent takes the cake. Pumpkin scents remind me of pumpkin picking with my family, Thanksgiving dinners, and baking fall treats. Pumpkin scents have a cozy and comforting effect.
My favorite fall activity has changed throughout my life. As a college student at an SEC school, it is easy for me to say that football game days are currently my favorite fall activity. Selecting the perfect game day outfit, walking around the tailgates on campus with my friends, and being a part of the student section in the stadium are a few aspects of what makes game days so special. The atmosphere on Auburn’s campus during a game day is unlike anything I had experienced before arriving in Alabama. Football game days are a defining part of my college experience and the reason that the fall semester is so exciting.
I hope that after reading my list of fall favorites you are excited for fall and all that it entails. It is finally time to stock up on yummy treats, comfy sweaters, game-day outfits, and spicy candles.
