Eating Healthy with a Sweet Tooth

If you are like me, you have a massive sweet tooth. I cannot turn down my cravings, but I CAN trick them! I have started a collection of great recipes that are delicious and better for you than most desserts. I have learned not to deprive my body of sweets but to substitute certain ingredients. For example, you can substitute a lot of sugars and honey with maple syrup.  Maple syrup is high in antioxidants, offers natural nutrients, and even has less calories than honey. An extra treat - most of these recipes are gluten and dairy free, too! It is important not to derive your body from your cravings, and you’ll always feel good after eating these clean recipes! Here are some of my favorite healthy desserts:

The 3-Ingredient Cookie

Ingredients 

3 Ripe Bananas 

½ Cup Cocoa Powder 

½ Cup Almond Butter

Directions

1.    First preheat the oven to 350F

2.    Peel the three bananas and put them into a large bowl

3.    Mix the cocoa powder and almond butter into the bowl

4.    Put onto a cookie sheet and bake for 14 minutes 

Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich 

*Gluten and Dairy Free

Directions

1.    Add the eggs, cashew butter, vanilla, and maple syrup into a large bowl and whisk together 

2.    Then add the almond flour, baking soda, and sea salt into that mixture and whisk together

3.    Add preferred amount chocolate chips 

4.    Preheat oven to 350F

5.    Place batter in fridge for 30 minutes 

6.    Flatten on baking sheet and bake for 8-9 minutes and broil for another 2-3 minutes 

7.    Let cool for 5 minutes

8.    Scoop ice cream onto one cookie and place another cookies on top

9.    Enjoy!

Ingredients 

1 Large Egg

1/3 Cup Cashew Butter

3 Tablespoons Vanilla

¼ Cup Organic Maple Syrup 

1 ½ Cup Almond Flour

½ Teaspoon Baking Soda

½ Teaspoon Sea Salt 

Chocolate Chips

Dairy Free Ice Cream (Recommendation – So Delicious Coconut Milk Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Ingredients

½ Cup Almond Milk 

½ Teaspoon Mint Extract

½ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract 

5-6 Frozen Bananas

Chocolate Chips

Directions

1.    Blend all ingredients together in a blender 

2.    Enjoy!

Blueberry Cobbler

Ingredients

½ Cup Oats

1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

½ Teaspoon Sea Salt

1 Cup Water

1 Cup Blueberries

½ Teaspoon salt

1 Teaspoon Cinnamon 

1 Teaspoon Organic Maple Syrup

Directions

1.    Mix together the oats, cinnamon, water, and seal salt in a bowl

2.    Place the mixture in the microwave and follow instruction on the oatmeal packaging 

3.    In a saucepan, mix the blueberries, salt, cinnamon, and maple syrup on the stove for about five minutes 

4.    Top the oats mixture with the blueberry mixture

5.    Also, top with your favorite non-dairy or Greek yogurt

6.    Enjoy!
