Tell us a little about yourself!
I am now officially a senior here at Auburn, and I am majoring in Apparel Merchandising. I am from Gainesville, GA, which is an hour north of Atlanta. I have a big family, which serves as such a great support system to my big dreams. Ever since I was young, I have been obsessed with fashion and have had my own style, and I knew that apparel merchandising was the best path for me to take while at Auburn.
What are your future career goals?
After graduation, I hope to move to a big city and do something with product development. The reason I want to be involved with product development is because it is the "queen bee" of the fashion process. I love working with people and designing, and through product development I can do design, marketing, and work with others. My overall goal is to start my own brand. It has always been my dream to have my name on a piece of clothing that other people wear.
How has being involved in SWATCH and AMDA benefited you?
My freshman year I wasn't involved in AMDA, and it is one of my biggest regrets because of all the opportunities I have earned through it now that I have joined. I really started to get involved this past year, and during this short time I got to submit a dress in the fashion show, be in the SWATCH magazine, have an article I wrote on the blog, and even be featured on AMDA's social media. It has also been fun going to events with people in AMDA because it is not who I usually get to hang out with outside of class. Something I wasn't expecting to come out of it was the relationships I have also built with teachers, which has been extremely beneficial. My number one piece of advice to anyone coming to Auburn majoring in apparel merchandising or design is to get involved as much as you can because of how much it brings you out of your comfort zone and allows you to meet others who have the same passion as you.
