Editor in Chief Spotlight - Amelia Parrish

Meet Amelia Parrish! She will be a senior this upcoming school year and is serving as Editor-in-Chief for SWATCH and Vice President of Apparel Merchandising and Design Association (AMDA). Amelia is a valued individual on the staff and we are so excited to see her efforts put into SWATCH this year. Tell us about yourself!

I’m Amelia Parrish, and I’m from a little town called Scottsboro, AL! I’m double majoring in Apparel Merchandising and Management with a minor in Organizational Development and Change. I am the Vice President of AMDA and the new Editor-in-Chief of SWATCH!!! My favorite things are wearing wigs, drinking chai lattes, and flipping thrifted clothes! 

What does your dream job in fashion look like?

In the future, I would love to work for a forecasting agency, and work my way up in a corporate company to an executive-level position! Of course, my dream, though, is to be able to challenge my mind creatively every day and to work with passionate people who push me to do my best. 

What inspired you to study fashion in college & why?

A month before I graduated high school, I visited “Mod” - the AMDA Fashion Event of 2018. I watched all the students’ designs walk the runway, heard about their design inspiration, and when I saw the merchandising portfolios I felt at home! I knew without a doubt that the Merchandising program was where the Lord wanted me, and I’ve never looked back! 

What are you most excited about for SWATCH this upcoming school year?

I am SO beyond excited to read and publish everyone’s articles this summer, and to put together the Fall Magazine! We have such an amazing SWATCH staff this year, and all AMDA members are so talented, I can’t wait to see what we all put together this upcoming year!!!
