The Smith Agency
I’ve been working with the Smith Agency for a little over a year. And, I’ll be honest, I didn't fully understand what I was signing up for. No one can fully comprehend the apparel market until they’ve actually experienced it. The energy that radiates through the building is something I can only equate to a professional’s Disney World, especially for those who love fashion. On top of working market, the Smith Agency has provided me with an inspiring community of young professionals, and a mentor who I now refer to as my “work mom.”
After working my first market, I was suddenly met with opportunities that I never expected. Along with being a part-time sales rep for the agency, I was also given the opportunity to work as the recruiting manager at Auburn University. That job has since led to my role as the Auburn University Campus Director. One of my most memorable experiences with the agency, however, had to be our Fall 2022 trip to New York Fashion Week.
I have been dreaming about being involved in New York Fashion Week since I was a child. Along with a small group of selected “Smith Agency Ladies,” I got to work behind the scenes of a New Leaper fashion show, tour multiple designer showrooms, and create content for some of the Agency’s clients. What made the trip such a positive memory for me was the team of girls that I got to experience everything with. I am so thankful to be supported by such an inclusive group where we are all empowered to step out of our comfort zone and take advantage of amazing opportunities.
This job has been more than just a way to make money in college. I have seen the beginnings of my career coming together. I have not only met a plethora of people on the same path as me, I’ve gained a boss and mentor who has been able to guide me in the beginnings of my fashion industry career. It’s difficult to fully encapsulate how beneficial this job has been for me professionally and personally. But, as the new Auburn University Campus Director, I hope to share my experience with other Auburn students and guide them towards one of the best experiences of my college career.
