Sydney Hansen - Ambassador Spotlight
Tell us about yourself!
My name is Sydney Hansen and I’m a junior studying apparel merchandising at Auburn. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, but have been living in Knoxville, Tennessee since my junior year of high school when my family moved there. I love being with my friends and family, traveling, and anything involving fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. It’s easy for me to stay motivated and fulfilled because of what I study, the organizations I’m involved with, and the jobs I have worked all revolve around fashion!
What does your dream job in fashion look like?
Honestly, I can see myself in a variety of positions in the fashion industry. Upon graduation I hope to start off in a merchandising position at any major retailer. However, my dream is to one day get into styling. I also could see myself opening a clothing company with my sister down the line- she is also fashion obsessed and is my best friend!
What inspired you to study fashion in college & why?
Although cliché, I have dreamed of working in the fashion industry since I was a little girl. My mom still has my sketchbooks from when I was a little girl and would draw out hundreds of different outfit combinations just for fun. I was always telling people one day I was going to move to Paris or New York and work in fashion, and I feel closer to that dream every day! It just has always been the clear career path for me.
What inspired you to get involved with SWATCH?
I wanted to get more involved with AMDA and came across the SWATCH Ambassador opportunity, quickly to find that SWATCH is the perfect creative outlet for Auburn apparel students. I love that it gives us the chance to not only write for SWATCH, but also partake in social media content creation and promotion. It’s also a great way to connect with other AMDA members- we all have so much in common!
