Ella Pyron - Ambassador Spotlight
Tell us about yourself!
My name is Ella Pyron and I’m a junior at Auburn University studying apparel merchandising with a minor in marketing. I grew up in Mountain Brook, Alabama, but my family moved to Bainbridge Island, Washington, and that has quickly become what I consider to be my hometown. I have always had a passion for writing and all things design and fashion, which is what brought me to SWATCH. In-between studying and getting involved with the university and my major, I enjoy traveling whenever & wherever I can—even if it’s just a day-long road trip to a state park. I also enjoy staying active and trying new things. I recently signed up for a yoga class filled with strangers and walked away with some new poses and a few new friends that I probably would have never met otherwise.
What does your dream job in fashion look like?
There are many things I wish to accomplish in terms of my career once I graduate; at this point in my life I really don’t have a “dream job”, rather, I have a dream career path. I consider myself lucky in this context because I truly know my strengths and interests when it comes to work and I know what I’d be happy to dedicate my time and energy to in terms of work: fashion, design, art, business, marketing, communication, journalism, and all things that fall within those categories. In an ideal world, I would be constantly working within these categories, basing my career off making the most of my time and talents and fulfilling my creative and intellectual needs.
What inspired you to study fashion in college & why?
I have always known that I wanted a career involving fashion or design to some capacity, but like many people who are pursuing a career in fashion, I felt as though my passions were a distant dream, something everyone wanted to do but told themselves it “wasn’t realistic.” So, I started to study psychology because I thought that was what I was meant to do, but I quickly realized that I wasn’t being honest to myself. At the beginning of sophomore year, I ended up following my heart & making a decision that everyone in my life was honestly anticipating at that point — I changed my major to apparel merchandising. Shortly after, I found myself thinking of college as a gateway to my future rather than taking classes to get from point A to point B.
What inspired you to get involved with SWATCH?
I was drawn to SWATCH because it is many of my passions rolled into one; fashion has been a consistent passion of mine, trend forecasting, fashion advice, information within the world of fashion—these are all things I’m well-versed and heavily invested in. I’ve also loved writing ever since I was a little girl. I take a few moments every day just to read and write, even if I have a busy schedule ahead of me. I was also drawn to SWATCH because as I’ve gotten older, I’ve found it more valuable to get involved with the university and invest in my future. I knew SWATCH was a great opportunity for me to pursue this and stay connected with like-minded people.
