All Dolled Up

All Dolled Up

When I went to Ulta the other day to restock one of my usual products, I noticed something - Everything was pink, and not just any pink, Barbie pink. With the highly anticipated Barbie movie set to come out later this month, many companies are taking advantage. It seems like almost every company under the sun has a collaboration going on with the iconic Barbie, many of the companies being cosmetic or hair care focused.

All these collaborations make perfect sense to me. When you think of Barbie, you imagine her “all dolled up”. She always has the perfect hair, nails, and makeup. For many girls, Barbie was one of their first role models and they grew up wanting what Barbie has. As you got older and started doing your own hair and makeup, you probably want to be “all dolled up” too.

No matter what, getting dressed up never seems to out of style. Everyone still wants to look perfect in their own way, just like Barbie. That is part of the reason so many of these companies have come out with these collaborations. No matter what age you are, there is a love for Barbie and her look. These collaborations have an association with helping you to be able to achieve that look. So, they are bound to be popular with a wide audience. Not to mention that most of the products happen to be a dazzling shade of pink.

Pink was already one of the “It” colors of the year when it was announced that Viva Magenta would be the Pantone color of 2023. Now, with the Barbie movie, it is all the rage. Pink has been a trend, but will only get bigger from here. Expect to keep seeing pink in a big way and especially in the beauty industry.

Some may just be lovers of pink and others may be reinspired by Barbie. For me, I can say that both are true. I am a sucker for anything pink and was delighted at all the sights in Ulta. Growing up as a blonde, I wanted nothing more than to be just like Barbie. Although not always realistic, her look is classic, and you can’t blame a girl for trying. Even I have the desire to be “all dolled up”.  These collaborations even influenced to paint my nails pink! Not just any pink - Barbie pink.
