3 Comeback Fashion Trends
It’s no secret that fashion is a never-ending cycle. Trends may come and go, but they often find a way to make a comeback. I, for one, find myself constantly asking my mom if she still has a certain purse or pair of shoes that were popular when she was my age. While fashion is still evolving with experimentation of new trends, there are also many looks that we should all be on the lookout for this summer.
Shoulder Pads
I can still hear my parents laughing when I brought home a top with shoulderpads. All I could respond with was, “What!? They’re back in style!” My mom thought she had seen the last of them in the eighties, but forty years later, they are quite prevalent. Shoulderpads are the perfect addition to a top or jacket to create a little attitude while still remaining elegant. The dimension they add is quite subtle, but it makes a world of difference in an outfit.
Sweater Vests
One popular theme with fashion today is drawing inspiration from a blend of different decades. Sweater vests, in particular, give people a chance to break out some clothes from the seventies. This trend first started making a second appearance a few months ago, but with stores and places slowly opening back up, sweater vests are in full swing in 2021. They pair great with almost anything, including trousers, tennis skirts, or even a pair of long shorts.
Color Block
Making a second appearance straight from the eighties, colorblock clothing is everywhere right now. You can find this pattern in almost any style you can think of- pants, jackets, shirts, skirts, the list goes on. The color palettes come in a huge variety, from monochromatic and triadic to muted colors and neons. You can find just about any color combination in colorblock articles. These items can be used as a statement piece, or they can even be a way to tie together a range of colors into one outfit.
