Your Ultimate Guide to the Fashion Side of TikTok

Your Ultimate Guide to the Fashion Side of TikTok

If you are a user of the app TikTok, chances that you downloaded this app during your time in quarantine are pretty high. Whether your use of TikTok began “as a joke” or to view all the content your best friend kept sending you, your daily social media routine most likely includes swiping through your TikTok “For You Page”. The reason TikTok has become addicting for so many people is not because of the choreographed dances or trends such as whipped coffee, but rather because everything is curated towards what each individual user personally likes. As most of us know, this idea created “sides” to Tik Tok, i.e., a food side, a dancing side, and so many other crazy specific “sides”. Thankfully, during my time in quarantine, I strongly engaged with videos based around runway shows, designers, and so many other fashion-related ideas to put me on the “fashion side” of Tik Tok. Through this community, not only have I learned so much about fashion, but I have been able to support small creators as well. So, as a self-proclaimed TikToker, also known as someone who spends way too much time on the app, I have come up with the ultimate guide of who makes up “fashion” Tik Tok and why you should follow them.

@Brittanyallen.atx

Somehow, I got lucky enough to stumble across Brittany Allen on my For You Page, and I instantly fell in love. Not only was she on Project Runway, but she designs the coolest clothes for the coolest people. One of her most popular projects has been the work she has done with Peloton instructor Jessica King. She has been able to make cool themed outfits with crazy accessories that last throughout rigorous workouts. Brittany has also gained popularity by designing and constructing a line called “Princesses as Modern Unconventional Brides”. As a user of TikTok, I highly recommend following Brittany whether you are a designer yourself or simply enjoy watching the design process. Her content is consistent, never boring, and inspiring to those in the design field.

@Cvazzana

If bright colors and fun florals interest you, I strongly recommend checking out Caroline Vazzana on Tik Tok. Caroline Vazzana is the author of the published book “Making it in Manhattan” where she shares content from tips on how to live your best life in New York to her personal story of working for a world-renowned publisher. Through Caroline’s TikToks, I have been able to learn all the tricks and trades that will catch the eyes of recruiters of major companies in the fashion industry. Her advice doesn’t end there; she is very vibrant when it comes to prints and colors, so she gives great advice on how to style bigger without overwhelming the viewer. Caroline is a great resource to anyone in the apparel industry and very influential for those who want to live and have a career in The Big Apple.

@The_real _lin_shady

Next up is Lindy Goodson, who gives off major “cool older sister” vibes. Originally, I found Lindy through her videos about how to make unique Instagram edits, but since then I have loved watching her evolve into content that is based around clothing hauls and fashion advice, giving her the “older sister” title. Her style could be described as the perfect Pinterest board with her own original twist. Although Lindy is very popular within TikTok, she just graduated from the University of Mississippi and knows how a college budget works. Lindy is notorious for finding great items at a great price on websites like Amazon. I recommend following Lindy if you want to hear about trends, cool clothing finds at good prices, or ways to dazzle up your Instagram with cool edits.

@Chrisellelim

Chriselle Lim, aka your rich mom, is anything but average. Although Chriselle got her start on YouTube, she took her content to TikTok in 2019, wherein she was given the nickname “rich mom”. She has the closet of most girls’ dreams, and all I can think about is how lucky her daughters will be when they become old enough to wear her clothes. She shares different styled looks for different occasions, tips on how to look expensive on a budget, unboxings from designer stores, and daily vlogs. Chriselle’s videos and sense of humor single-handedly got me through quarantine, and I would recommend her if you love to keep up with designer trends and fabulous unboxings.
