How the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year Will Affect Fashion

Pantone, the global authority on color, has announced their 2023 Color of the Year: “Viva Magenta.” The Color of the Year is usually chosen based on current trends, cultural influences, and emerging technologies. Pantone states that for 2023 they chose a color that is “powerful and empowering” and encourages “experimentation and self-expression.” Based on this, it is a perfect color to incorporate into fashion.  

The Color of the year is usually integrated into the fashion business by fashion designers and used to create clothing trends throughout the year. However, I believe “Viva Magenta” will be very important in personal fashion and style this year. As stated, Pantone chose this color as a way to show self-express and a way to make a “stand-out statement.” The color embodies fashion perfectly as fashion is a form of self-expression that tells a story about who we are and what we stand for. With this year’s color, we can use it to showcase our creativity and experiment with different looks.  

With this being said, if you love the look of “Viva Magenta” you should plan to incorporate it into your style this year. You can slowly start to introduce the color by using it in accessories such as a magenta bag to pair with your outfits. Next, try to find basics in the color.
