Editor's Letter: The Inaugural Year
Nearing the end of the school year, things are looking a little different than expected. Events have been canceled, stores closed, and classes have moved online. Phrases like “social distancing,” “flatten the curve,” and “the new normal,” are trending for the first time.
The inaugural year of Swatch by AMDA has been a great introduction to what we are working toward through this platform.
From the beginning, we wanted to create a place for connection- between students, faculty, industry professionals, and, most importantly, between people with like-minded aspirations and interests. Our goal was to provide a digital space for people to share their stories, talents, experiences, their notable “tips and tricks,” and more. We wanted to build connections and bridge the gaps between people, bringing them together and encouraging them.
As we all distance ourselves from others, and in some ways from our old reality, the meanings of connection and community have gained importance. Proving themselves essential.
Although the future of the industry, student’s paths, and what life will look like from now on is a bit fuzzy, our need to stand strong as a community is now as clear as ever.
We are stronger together. So, keep sharing, keep hustling, keep bringing people together, and bridging the gaps between one another.
Thank you for supporting Swatch throughout our first year, we are excited for the future with you.
