5 Shopping Apps you Need on your Phone

5 Shopping Apps you Need on your Phone

Nowadays, two-thirds of online shopping happens right on our phones. With the right apps, online shopping can be as easy as a click of a button. Here are some of my favorite apps for making clothing purchases on my phone. These apps help me save money, support small businesses, and make ethical shopping choices!

Curtsy

Curtsy is an app that allows you to buy and sell used clothes right from your phone. It is super easy to use and a great way to make money for the clothes you no longer wear. Curtsy will even mail you a shipping kit, so you have all the supplies you need to fulfill orders. Not only that, but Curtsy is an excellent way to shop sustainably. Think about it like a virtual thrift store. Not only have I been able to buy awesome finds for a discount, but they are also more sustainable than buying them new.

Farfetch

If you like to buy designer goods at a better price, Farfetch is the app for you. Farfetch sells new and preowned designer goods from brands like Bottega Veneta, Manolo Blahnik, and Versace at discounted rates. Each of their products is examined for authenticity and quality by experts, so there is no need to worry about receiving a dupe. If you have a luxury product that you don’t wear, you can even sell it to the company and use your credits to buy something new!

Good on You

If you’re looking to shop more consciously, Good on you does the work for you. This app evaluates thousands of clothing stores globally for their impact on Labour, Environment, and Animals. They do so by looking into aspects such as their labor standards for employee safety, use of eco-friendly material and production methods, and their use of ethically sourced animal products. Greenwashing has made it difficult to decipher which brands are genuine about their practices, but this app makes it easier than ever to shop with ethical brands.

Rent the Runway

Having you ever wanted to buy a new formal outfit for an event, knowing it will only get worn once? Not only can that be a strain on your wallet, but it’s also not the best choice environmentally. Rent the Runway allows you to make short clothing rentals of designer goods for a fraction of the cost. This allows you still get that new outfit, but for a limited time and for a fraction of the cost. For example, a $248 Reformation dress can be all yours for 4 days, for only $40. If you always have an event to go to, and don’t like to re-wear your clothes, Rent the Runway also has a subscription service. For $99/month, you can rent 8 articles of clothes from over 700 different designers.

The Shop app makes it easier than ever to place orders directly from your phone with your pre-saved payment and shopping information. Stores that run their services through Shopify are available in the Shop app! This includes a plethora of different small businesses. They even have a feature to discover new ones! The Shop app also lets you manage all of your shopping and order tracking in one place, helping you keep a tab on the arrival of all your purchases, rather they were made in the app or not!

When it comes to online shopping, there are millions of options to choose from. These apps have made it so much easier for me to make the best choice when shopping!
